For what comes next.

Start with the essentials

Understand the parts.
See the bigger picture.

Medicare is federal health insurance for people 65 and older, and some younger people with certain disabilities or conditions. The names can feel unfamiliar. A few clear distinctions can make your next conversation easier.

Part A

Hospital insurance

Helps cover inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice and some home health care.

Part B

Medical insurance

Helps cover doctor visits, outpatient care, medical equipment and many preventive services.

Part C

Medicare Advantage

A private, Medicare-approved alternative that includes Part A, Part B and usually Part D.

Part D

Prescription drug coverage

Helps with prescription drug costs through a separate drug plan or a Medicare Advantage plan that includes it.

Your coverage options

Two paths.
Important differences.

Start by understanding how these coverage arrangements differ. We can help you explore the questions that matter to you.

01

Original Medicare

Includes Part A and Part B. You can see doctors and hospitals that accept Medicare. You can consider adding a separate Part D drug plan and Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) to help pay your share of covered costs.

02

Medicare Advantage

Combines Part A and Part B through a private plan. Most plans include Part D. Provider networks, out-of-pocket costs and extra benefits vary, so the details matter.

Make room for the right questions

Your life is the starting point.

A conversation gives us a place to start: your priorities, your questions and the decisions ahead.

01

Your care

Which doctors and hospitals matter to you?

02

Your prescriptions

Which medicines and pharmacies do you use?

03

Your budget

What questions do you have about premiums and costs when you receive care?

04

Your timing

Are you approaching Medicare, leaving other coverage or reviewing a current plan?

03

Plan your next step

Ask what comes next and what information may be needed.

A little clarity

A few questions.
A clearer next step.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to get in touch.

Do I need to know which type of coverage I want?

No. You can begin with your questions. Harris Advisors takes a consultative approach to help you understand the choices and make an informed decision.

Does Original Medicare include prescription drug coverage?

Original Medicare is Part A and Part B. You can add a separate Part D drug plan. Most Medicare Advantage plans include Part D.

Is Medicare Supplement Insurance the same as Medicare Advantage?

No. Medigap helps pay your share of costs in Original Medicare. Medicare Advantage is a different way to receive Medicare coverage through a private, Medicare-approved plan.
